Holidays can get messy, but Halloween in particular poses its own house cleaning dilemmas. Halloween mischief can be frustrating to clean and can cause damage to your home. Also common Halloween stains including chocolate and pumpkin stains can be trick to remove. Here are four house cleaning tips for Halloween.
1. Toilet Paper:
Toilet paper can be difficult to remove. We recommend waiting till the sun comes out so the morning dew has had time to dry. If the toilet paper is damp it will be much more difficult to remove. You should also avoid using a ladder for safety purposes. Instead you can remove it from trees with a long pole.
2. Eggs:
Eggs need to be cleaned up ASAP! If eggs have enough time to dry, they can permanently stain your home. To clean mix warm water and dish soap. Next scrub the egg residue with a soft bristle brush. Lastly, rinse the area with a hose.
3. Chocolate Stains:
Chocolate can be tricky to remove from fabrics. If you use hot water, it will melt causing enzymes to be further absorbed into the fabric. You should start by scrapping away any excess chocolate with a dull knife. Next hold the stain upside down and rinse under cold water while adding detergent as you rinse. Lastly, launder the item on a cold cycle.
4. Pumpkin Stains:
Pumpkin carving is an OUTDOOR ACTIVITY! Pumpkin can stain floors and carpets. If you get pumpkin pulp on your floors you should be okay if you clean it up immediately. If you happen to get pumpkin on any carpeted areas of your home you should start by removing any access pulp. Next blot the stain with white distilled vinegar. Sprinkle a little backing soda to prevent pumpkin odor and vacuum it up in a few hours. If the stain persists call a professional carpet cleaning company.
