Kitchen Counter: The kitchen counter is an important place to keep clean because bacteria can be transferred onto the food we eat. Crumbs and moisture on the kitchen counter attract bacteria. After using the kitchen counter in your office, removing any spill or crumbs will drastically reduce the bacteria count. You can also disinfect the counter top by filling a spray bottle with vinegar to use as a disinfectant. Vinegar is a great green cleaning disinfectant.
The Desk: We use our desks in many ways such as a place to keep papers and office supplies, a place to eat and most importantly a place to work. Eating at your desk combined with clutter increases bacteria count and can also create more dust. An easy way to keep your desk clean is by keeping disinfecting wipes nearby so it you don’t even need to leave your desk to clean. You can use them as a surface cleaner to wipe down your desk removing small crumbs, dust and bacteria.
The Fridge: The office fridge is a popular place for bacteria to hang out. Old food and drinks that do not get thrown away can grow bacteria, fungi and mold. The office fridge is an important place to keep clean because bacteria can spread onto food that is not properly stored. It is a good idea to sort through and clean your fridge on a regular basis. To keep your office fridge clean, you should have policy that requires employees to write their names on their food so they have to take accountability if they forget to throw it out.
Floors: You never know what is going to walk through your door and as a result your floors can become very dirty from what people track into your office. Bacteria feeds off of moisture and dirt thus office floors, particularly around entrance areas, are very germy place. We recommend using an entrance mat to trap dirt and moisture at the door. This will save you time and money spent on keeping your floors clean.
Touch points: Anything we come into contact with on a regular basis such as door handles, electronic devices or faucet handles are examples of touch points. These areas should be disinfected regularly because they have the ability to transfer germs every time someone uses them. An easy way to keep these areas clean is to use disinfecting wipes and rub them over the surface. Keeping touch points clean will decrease the spread of germs in the office place.
