We walk on carpets, play on carpets and unfortunately make messes on carpets. Arco Cleaning has specialized in the commercial carpet cleaning and residential carpet cleaning in Westchester County since 1946. Today ninety percent of carpets are made of synthetic fiber, comprised of nylon, polypropylene or polyester. Here are some common carpets cleaning solutions that you can use in your home or office.
Soda and Juice Stains: Soda stains require immediate action due to the high acidic content of soda and juice. First start by blotting the area and them soak up the soda with an absorbent cloth. Then scrub the area thoroughly with a mixture of dish soap and water.
Red Wine Stains: To remove red wine stains, first blot the area with a towel. Continue blotting the area while adding club soda, the carbonation will lift the stain. Continue to add club soda and blot as needed until the stain is gone. Note you should never scrub the stain this will cause it to set in deeper in the fabric.
Coffee Stains: Coffee stains on a carpet aren’t difficult to remove if you act quickly. Scrub the area that is stained with vinegar or club soda until it’s removed, if you wait too long the stain can set in.
Pet Stains: Start by blotting until the moister is gone. Then use vinegar and water in a solution to remove the stain. Sprinkle some baking soda over the area to remove odor and vacuum later once it has dried.
Gum: Put a bag of ice on the gum so that the gum hardens. Once the ice hardens the gum pull the gum off slowly and carefully to avoid pulling up carpet fibers and getting the gum deeper in the carpet.
We hope these tips help with some of your everyday carpet accidents!
